WHAT WE BELIEVE
On this page you will find what we, Grace Bible Church, subscribe to as our core doctrinal beliefs.
- SCRIPTURES
We believe every word of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible is living, eternal, infallible and inspired of God in the original manuscripts. Moreover it is our conviction that God has exercised such singular care and providence through the ages in preserving His written Word, that the Bible as we now have it is in every essential detail just as it was originally given. We believe there are no other writings outside the Bible inspired of God. We believe the Bible is the only absolute authority for faith and life, is the exclusive revelation of God to man, and speaks to every need of life. [Psalm 119:89,152; Isaiah 40:8; Zechariah 7:7,12; Matthew 4:4; II Timothy 3:16,17; Hebrews 4:12; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:19-21] - GOD
We believe in one God, Who is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, incomparable, immutable, just, holy, righteous, faithful, immanent, transcendent and self-revealing. We believe He eternally exists in His triune essence as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe the Father is the source and creator of all things and is love. He does everything by the power of His Holy Spirit and through His Son. [Genesis 1:1-3; Isaiah 40:25-28; 44:6-8,24; 48:11-13; Matthew 3:16,17; 28:19; John 1:1-3; 5:19; II Corinthians 13:14; I Timothy 1:17; 6:15,16; I John 4:8] - JESUS CHRIST
We believe that in Jesus Christ is all the fullness of deity in bodily form, that He is the exact image and glory of God, that He is the eternal Word of God who willingly became flesh and lived among us, that He is fully God and fully man, that He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, that He lived a sinless life and kept God's law perfectly, that He is the only savior and mediator between God and man, and that He will be revealed as the great King and judge of all the earth. [Matthew 1:23; John 1:1,14; Luke 2:52; Philippians 2:5-11; Colos-sians 1:15-20; 2:9; I Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 1:2-12; 2:9,14; 10:5] - WORK OF CHRIST
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ voluntarily gave His life to die on the cross as a complete atonement for the sins of all men, that it was not possible for death to hold Him so He rose victorious over death and the grave in His physical body, that He ascended into Heaven as our intercessor and advocate, and that He is able to completely and eternally save all who believe (trust) in Him. [Luke 24:39; John 10:17,18; Acts 1:9; I Corinthians 2:8; Hebrews 2:9-18; 7:25; 10:12-22; I Peter 3:18; I John 2:1,2] - HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit, that He is God, and that He dwells in every born-again believer. We believe that His ministry is to convince of sin and reveal Christ to sinners, to regenerate those who believe and baptize them into the body of Christ, to comfort, to teach, to guide, to gift for ministry and to empower his children in holy living. Although we do believe God heals and works miracles today, we believe He normally works His will through natural means. (We do not speak or pray in tongues or claim to have the gift of performing miracles.) [John 3:5,6; John 14:26; 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; 5:3,4; I Corinthians 6:19; 12:1-13; 14; II Corinthians 3:17,18; Ephesians 4:30; I Thessalonians 4:7,8; James 5:13-20] - SALVATION
We believe that eternal salvation is the gift of God and not a reward for good works. We believe it is obtainable only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work. We believe salvation includes full forgiveness of sins as well as being accounted righteous before God through the merit of our Lord Jesus. We further believe that our corrupted, dying bodies will be changed to immortal perfect bodies at the return of Christ. Because of God's promises, and because we possess the Holy Spirit as a guarantee, we are absolutely certain that we have salvation and have passed from death to life. [Acts 4:12; John 5:24; Romans 3:21-31; 8:23; II Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; Ephesians 1:13,14; 2:8,9; I John 3:14; 5:11-13] - SANCTIFICATION
We believe that we are indwelt by God's Holy Spirit, empowering us to live a victorious life, even though we still retain our old sinful nature received from Adam. Although all claims to the eradication of the old nature are unscriptural, we believe that the believer is never compelled to sin. We believe holy living is learned through faithful fellowship with God in the study of His Word and prayer and through the encouragement and ministry of other believers. [I Corinthians 10:13; 12:14-31; II Corinthians 3;18; Romans 6:1-14; 7:15-25; 15:16; Galatians 5:16-26; Hebrews 10:24,25; I John 1:8] - CHURCH
We believe that the New Testament church began at Pentecost, and that every saved person is a member of the body of Christ, God's true universal church, of which Christ is the head. A local assembly of believers makes up the local church, which is God's instrument for the fulfillment of His purpose during this age of grace. [Acts 2:46,47; 14:23; Ephesians 1:22.23; 4:11,12; 5:25; Colossians 1:24; Revelation 2:1,8,12] - ORDINANCES
We believe that the Lord gave the church two ordinances that are to be obeyed by all believers: baptism by immersion and the Lord's supper. We believe these ordinances have no power in themselves to save; they are outward symbols, expressing the believers' faith in Christ's work for them. [Matthew 28:19,20; I Corinthians 11:24-26] - ETERNITY
We believe that the saved shall live in eternal fellowship with Christ, and that the lost shall be condemned to live in conscious eternal torment in the lake of fire, separated from the presence of God. [Matthew 25:41; John 14:3; I Corinthians 15:50-58; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 14:11; 20:15] - SATAN
We believe in the personality of Satan, the arch enemy of God and man. He is not omnipresent, omnipotent, or omniscient, nor is he in any other way equal to God. We believe that he works through an army of demons, is the tempter, the inspirer of evil, the deceiver, the accuser of believers and "the father of lies." He is the "god of this world" who has blinded the minds of unbelievers to the truth of salvation. And we believe God will ultimately throw him into the lake of fire where he will be tormented forever. [Job 1:6-12; 2:6; John 8:44; II Corinthians 4:4; I Thessalonians 3;5; Revelation 12:10; 20:10] - ANGELS
We believe that angels are spirits created by God to serve and worship Him, to be His messengers, to serve Jesus, and to minister to believers. Some angels fell and followed the rebellion of Lucifer against God. We believe that God's grace and salvation are only offered to mankind, and the angels who have sinned are condemned to eternity in the lake of fire, which was created for them. [Psalm 91:11; Mathew 13:41; 16:27; 24:31; 25:41; Hebrews 1:6,7,14; 2:2,16; I Peter 1:12; II Peter 2:4; Jude 6]
